If you are a first-time reader, welcome to Lora and Erics RV Adventure Blog. You can read about us at http://www.LoraandEricsRVAdventure.com. We started in December 2017 with a goal to complete 49 states before heading home to North Carolina.
Welcome to New Mexico. We only touched a small portion of Texas and could have spent another 2 weeks in Texas, but Texas seems to be the brewing nest for storms headed towards the east.
The time from San Angelo State Park to Spring River RV Park in Roswell, New Mexico is 4 h 40 min (302 miles) via Hwy 87N and Hwy 380E. Our reservation is for from April 22 through April 24. Going to Roswell where a UFO crashed is a bucket list item.

The route takes us through wide open land with little between towns. We see the first of many oil wells. The western part of Texas is rich will energy resources. Near Brownfield, TX there are many oil rigs, fracking rigs, wind turbines, and natural gas plants all seen from off the roadway.
The oil rigs were less as we moved into New Mexico. We continued to see wind turbines. Driving for what seems like forever along straight roads with heat mirages in the distance with the reflection of cars in the road, Tinys Burger Barn in Tatum, New Mexico becomes welcoming with a big long parking lot to slow down and reverse back through the gravel lot. Great for RV's and trucks.

Many places traveling from Texas do not have enough space for RV's or trucks. Our burgers were cooked just right. The fries were perfectly seasoned. It is a nice place for a quick stop. There are also picnic tables outside to sit while the dog can be tied up on the fence to relax when you eat.
We have a 1 hr drive from Tatum to Roswell. Spring River RV Park is made up of 2 RV Parks. We stayed at 950 E College Blvd. This park is a new. It has some permanent campers like most parks we visit. Spring River Park and Zoo, home to native animals and an antique carousel is in walking distance from the RV Park. During the evening peacocks can be heard.
Roswell is renowned as the site of an alleged 1947 UFO crash. Lora wanted to visit the International UFO Museum and Research Library as a believer. Almost half of the museum is dedicated the Roswell UFO crash site. I thought they gave was great information and very informative. The other sections of movie posters, fake movie props, and UFO Scene takes away from the "Research Library" in the name. It would be nice if they had real props from the actual movie sets and not just a poster. The sighting wall has letters from people describing what they seen. Nothing to back it up or like the Roswell displays. Reading about it and see the evidence and research to back it up was very interesting. Adding in all the other items takes away from being there in 1947 when a UFO crashed in Roswell.
After visiting the museum, we stopped to eat lunch at El Toro Bravo Mexican Restaurant in walking distance of the museum. They have a buffet from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Sun-Fri. We selected the buffet. I made 8 tacos and Lora ate enchiladas. The food was good for a buffet.
We drove through downtown. We found the McDonald’s shaped like a flying saucer. It would have been better if it was not for the kiddie park build into the saucer.
We stopped at a gift store, so Lora can buy a souvenir. She bought a blowup Martian and a UFO Drivers License.
We headed back to the camper and spent the evening speaking with our neighbor and later on going over to another camper who has been here for the past 2 months. Their RV is an older 5th wheel and their truck is a 1971 Chevy. They were planning on heading the NY for a wedding in May. They were hoping the truck will make it.
On Tuesday we are going north toward Albuquerque to Hidden Valley Resort in Tijeras, NM. The park is a Coast to Coast member park.
