If you are a first-time reader, welcome to Lora and Erics RV Adventure Blog. You can read about us at http://www.LoraandEricsRVAdventure.com. We started in December 2017 with a goal to complete 49 states before heading home to North Carolina.
Denise and mom arrive later tonight on Frontier Flight 1125 from RDU. They are scheduled to leave at 9:30 pm EST and arrive in Las Vegas 11:34 pm PST. I filled the propane tanks down the street at Western Petroleum 2051 E Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89104. The cost for just 12 gallons was $36.40. The rate is around $3.50 per gallon but is discounted if you get more than 10 gallons. I thought it was a great price but seen in previous states $2.50 per gallon.
We had noticed for the past few days the Refrigerator was not holding the temperature. The temperature was as high as 48°F. The temperature should be below 44°F per FDA. We searched google for different options. Lora and I made a list of items we needed. We first went to Camping World for a fridge fan to help cool down the refrigerator.
After Camping World, we went to Joanne’s Fabrics to get curtain fabric for the windows. Lora wants to change the tan curtains to make our camper homier.
We were hungry. We seen a Buffalo Wild Wings near the mall. I ordered my usual wings and onion rings. Lora ordered a Chicken Wrap with baked chicken. She was not happy with her wrap. I have Caribbean Jerk, Spicy Garlic, and Honey BBQ sauce. The restaurant chain is the same anywhere you are visiting. The wings and legs were larger in size for sure here compared to our last 2 visits in Raleigh and Wilson, North Carolina.
After lunch we headed to Walmart to finish our list to complete the curtains. Getting back home I had to get 2 D cell batteries for the fridge fan. I decided to also try and find dry ice to help cool the fridge. The dry ice did not work well. It seemed like it was too cold to cool. Lora read about adding Ice in trays. We started to add ice and the temperature dropped down a few degrees.
Denise and Jackie’s plane was delayed 1 hr 27 min. They were on the plane when the delay occurred. They landed around 12:54 am instead of 11:34 pm. I woke Lora up to see if she wanted to come with me to pick them up. She agreed, which was nice. The airport is a short 18 minutes from the campground. We picked up Denise and her mom at Terminal 3 passenger pickup.
I asked if they wanted to stop for a drink on the strip. We headed down the strip, so Denise can see all the lights. Jackie had been here before, about the same time we were here 17 years ago. There were people walking on the walkways, but not as many as I would have expected at 1:00 am. We parked at Treasure Island and walked through the Casino. Everything, but the casino itself was closed.
We walked over the cat walk to the other side of the street to visit the Venetian. Same scenario, everything was closed, but we were able to show Denise the inside. Lora was getting cranky. Since nothing was open we decided to head back to the truck and home.
We hung outside of the camper till 3:00am – 4:00am.

We walked through the Venetian. The stores were all closed. We walked through the store area and took pictures.
The next morning was rough for all. Bella got up at her normal time, but I was able to get her back to sleep. I stayed in bed till 8:00 am. Denise and her mom were away when I came out. Lora did not get up till 9:30 am. I fixed them McBenz’s (fried egg, ham, and American cheese on a toasted English muffin). We finally left for the Hoover Dam just before 12:00pm The drive is only 40 minutes or 30 miles from the Vegas. We first stopped at Lake Meade Visitors Center to get pictures of the lake.
After a short visit we headed to the Hoover Dam. We missed the turn because of construction so we had to pass over Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and crossed into Arizona. We turned around on Exit 2 and headed over the bridge again.
We first stopped at the Lake Meade overlook and once again took a few pictures of Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
From the overlook we traveled to the Hoover Dam visitors center in the parking garage. The cost for parking is $10.00. A 3500 Ram is a tight fit in the pathway but can maneuver all the way to the top level if needed.
Hoover Dam was largest dam in the world at the time of its completion in 1935, this National Historic Landmark stores enough water in Lake Mead to irrigate 2 million acres and serves as a popular tourist destination when visiting Las Vegas. We took the elevator down to the ground floor. The main Dam Tour was closed. We walked over to the Winged Figures of the Republic Statues.
We walked down to the Nevada/Arizona state line on the Hoover Dam Bridge. I took a picture of Denise on either side of the state line.
We were able to take the visitor center tour which is $10.00 per person and walk on the Dam itself. The Dam is massive and very well maintained. Last week I had seen Earthquake with The Rock. The movies earthquake disaster starts at the Hoover Dam when the Dam breaks.
Our plan is to next to Valley of Fire State Park, but first we want to Eat. We head to Boulder City, home of the Hoover Dam. A historic town, its sole reason for existence was the need to house workers contracted to build the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River (known commonly as Boulder Dam from 1933 to 1947, when it was officially renamed Hoover Dam by a joint resolution of Congress). Men hoping for work on the dam project had begun settling along the river in tents soon after the precise site for the dam had been chosen by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1930. Their ramshackle buildings were collectively known as "Ragtown". We ate lunch at Jacks Place Bar & Grill.
Denise and Jackie wanted to walk around and checkout the ice cream shop.

I took the takeout boxes of their food back to the truck and got my camera. The downtown area is really nice and had sculptures on each corner. The local restaurants were all clustered into one section of the street. It was really nicely setup.
We were reaching 3:30 pm and to visit Valley of Fire State Park would set us back another 3 hours. I decided to scrub the trip and head home to take Bella out.
We stayed at the camper for a few hours. Lora and Denise washed up and they were back away and ready to head to the strip. I downloaded the Lyft App and ordered us a driver. The cost was very good. Under $14.00 for the 4 of us from the campground to Caesars Palace. Vincent our driver was very informative and good driver. I gave him 5 stars for his service and $3.00 tip.
We were 5 minutes before 8:00 pm for the Volcano Show in front of The Mirage. The crowd was not too bad. After 15 minutes o waiting the show never started. The times on the board showed 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 9:00 pm.
We left the front and headed to Caesars Palace. We spend a couple of hours it seemed.
We walked to the back of Caesars Palace for the Atlantis Show.
We then went to the casino to play some penny slots and quarter slots. In all we spent a total of $4.00 between us all.
We then walked to the Bellago and watched the fountain show. It was really nice. I do not recall seeing the night version 17 years ago. We went into the Bellago and walked to the Conservatory. Denise tried $5.00 on Rollette.
It was getting close to Midnight, so we called it a night. I got another Lyft from the Bellagio. The cost was around $16.00 back to the campground.
The day was busy but fun. The wind was blowing strong and the temperature was noticeably cooler.
