If you are a first-time reader, welcome to Lora and Erics RV Adventure Blog. You can read about us at http://www.LoraandEricsRVAdventure.com. We started our Full time adventure with the purchase of our 2018 Grand Design Reflection 315RLTS. Welcome to Alabama. This is the first time visiting Alabama for Lora and I.

The drive from Fountain, Florida to Summerdale, Alabama is about 175 miles and 2 hours 45 minutes. The temperature has dropped with cold front from the north after the 2 days of rain.
Our planned stay was from March 23rd to 28th. Rainbow Plantation Escapees is an Escapee Club owned campground. There is the campground with large wide sites. Next to the campground is a community of RV'ers with their homes built to accommodate their RV's and Travel Trailers.
On our first full day we headed to Mobile. The weather was sketchy. There was heavy rain expected so we researched Mobile for Botanical Gardens and indoor attractions if we were to be hit with rain. The rain held back when we arrived to the Mobile Botanical Gardens. The cost is $5.00 per person, but if you have a membership to another Garden the admission is free. We have a Garden membership in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina so we got it free. The volunteer manning the gate mentioned the property was owned by the City of Mobile, but does not fund the garden. The garden is a non-profit organization. The azaleas and rhododendrons were in full bloom.
After the garden we decided to have lunch. We looked up Trip Advisor for local restaurants and reviews. We choose Kitchen on George. The restaurant is in the heart of an old neighborhood. The place was full and they has an 1 hr 1/2 wait. We did not take into account it was Palm Sunday and families were going out to eat. We elected to eat at the bar and was able to sit right away.
After lunch we left Mobile and headed back towards Summerdale. We visited Alligator Alley The park has over 600 alligators. The cost is $12.00 per person. They had a special exhibit which was $3.00 more to see Reptiles with Ron. This is one of the first parks that does not charge a big fee to touch and/or hold an alligator or reptiles. Reptiles with Ron was well worth the $3.00. You have a chance to hold snakes, lizards, and touch a giant turtle. All cool.

The next couple of days were just too cold to do anything. All we had left to do was see the Alabama Gulf Coast which is highly rated. The Foley Beach is about 1 hr from the campground. We avoided the expressway toll road and opted to drive through Foley toward the beach. Traffic was packed most of the way to the beach. There was a fender bender, but the number of people on the road was ridiculous for a Monday. Kids must have been on Spring Break because the amusement parks along the way were packed with people. Before leaving we seen on the news the beaches were closed to swimming because of high winds and strong riptides. The day before there was a swimmer lost and they were still searching for him the next day. We made it to the beach. We went into a pay parking lot. The lady behind the window gave us 10 minutes to take pictures and leave so we did not have to pay $5.00 per person to park and walk around.
We wish the weather cooperated better so we could see more of the area, but we can never get great weather and to date we have done good. We packed up the day before and on the 28th we headed to Louisiana for 2 nights.
